Wordpress Settings

Now as you have successfully installed wordpress, you have full access to your dashboard. There are different types of settings available in the dashboard of wordpress. By accessing this one by one, you control different

functions of your website. Now, let’s learn the functioning of each of these settings.

You’ll see a setting button on your left in the dashboard. When you hover on that button, you will find some of these settings:-

1) General

2) Writing

3) Reading

4) Discussion

5) Media

6) Permalink

7) Plugin

When you expand the WordPress setting menu, simply click on the general setting. There are several things you’ll notice in general settings. At the very top, you’ll find the site title and tagline. You need to give it a proper check whether the site title is correct or not. Your site title should be the name of your website. And the other thing is called your site tagline that is by default “just another WordPress site” there. Most probably you’ll love to update the tagline and try to make it descriptive to your website. The main reason to update your site tagline and make it look attractive is google search results.

As it will appear in google search results and might be the very first thing anyone can notice on visiting the website. Once you have made the required changes in the tagline. Just below it, you’ll find the Wordpress URL option. This is the site address of your website, simply say the location where everyone will be redirected through this URL. You can change this by entering the URL address, in case you want your homepage to be different from the directory where you installed WordPress. But, it can cause trouble sometimes. So I’ll suggest you not change the default settings here.

The next option you see is nothing but your admin email that you’ll use to log into your admin dashboard and also for receiving information.

Just after that, you’ll see a membership plan which is one of the best features of wordpress. By using this, you can give access to anyone through your site by using email. And in case you are running a membership site then, this is just like the cherry on the cake for you.

The role of a new user is subscriber by default but you can change it to different positions such as author, SEO

manager, SEO editor, contributor, editor, etc. according to your requirement. But most probably you don’t like to give much access to your website to others.

Below membership, you’ll get an option to select language for your site. And you can also find an option to choose the city and timezone of your website. You can choose this according to your city preference and location. And last but not the least, there is also an option to select the date and time format. You can also set up the week tracking below. Now after making the required changes you just need to select the save option given below.
