Android is an operating system based on Linux. Previously Android was limited to smartphones, but now you may see the Android operating system in smart televisions, set-top boxes, and other electronic devices. Android was developed by Google and other companies for Open Handset Alliance. The complete development was led by Google. The first commercial version of the Android operating system was released in 2008 by Google and the Android version was 1.0
In 2012, Google launched another version of Android which was 4.1 Jelly Bean. In this update, Google enhanced the overall user experience in its UI and functionality. As Android is open-sourced, therefore its source code is available online and anyone can access that.
