Originally, VBScript was designed as a component in 1996 launched Microsoft Script Technologies. Initially, this technology was designed for web developers. VBScript was developed from 1.0 to 2.0 within two years and was later supported by Windows system administrators. On March 6, 1988, Alan Cooper conferred Bill Gates the archetypes that served in adding widgets. The archetypes for adding controls were conferred by Bill Gates on 6 March 1988 by Alan Cooper.

The scripting team decided, later on, to incorporate VBScript support in ASP.NET for the development of Web applications through the implementation of the.NET Framework.

VBScript features:

• VBScript is a lightweight, quick interpreter scripting language.
• Mostly, VBScript is insensitive to cases. It features an easy to learn and implement syntax.
• Contrary to C or Java, VBScript is not an object-oriented programming language and a scripting language.
• It employs the Component Object Model (COM) to access the environmental elements it executes.
• Successful VBScript execution can only occur if it has to be performed in host environments such as Internet Explorer (IE), IS and Windows Scripting Host (WSH)

Main Uses:

• Used in the Microsoft environment by system administrators.
• Serve as the script language of a Quick Test Professional tool for test automation (QTP).
• It is used in Outlook 97 instead of VBA as the macro language.
• Used for the automation and monitoring of official everyday tasks on Windows.
• Used along with ADODB to enhance database communication.

Advantages of using VBScript:

Disadvantages of using VBScript:

The main downside of VBScript is that it must download the code to a Web browser from a remote server. This is done without valid authenticity via websites or programs.
