A permalink is nothing but a web address that is simply used to link your content which is permanent and never changes. That’s the reason we call them permalinks. You can choose it according to your choice or create a custom URL structure. Normally, WordPress uses URLs that consist of question marks and lots of numbers in them. But you can change it to improve the structure of the URL that is memorizable and compatible.
Most people use a post name structure in their permalink. It is obviously not recommended to change this setting again and again.
