WordPress Comments
We always want our users and visitors of the site to be engaged in our content. And the best practice to do so is by comments. Most content creators leave their comments at the very top of that. Almost all WordPress pages, posts accept comments, and rather it depends upon you
whether you want to accept comments or not. All comments on site are displayed on the comments page of your WordPress admin area. No need to change any settings, it displays all comments by default.
You get some options to manage your comments here called pending, approve, spam, trash.
You can easily switch to any one of them according to your need:-
● Pending: In this section, you can find the comments submitted by visitors/users, but as they are pending so they won’t be visible on your blog post until and unless you approve them.
● Approved: In this section, you can find comments approved by you and are successfully published on posts/pages. This comment will be visible to every visitor/user of the site.
● Spam: You can mark the comment as spam if they are irrelevant and useless. And this comment will not be published on the site, only you can see them.
● Trash: When you mark a comment as trash, this comment is considered useless and it’ll be
automatically deleted after 30 days. Although, if you want to delete it at a time, then it is also possible. You can approve a comment by simply clicking on the approve button. Moreover, you can give replies to comments that you like. It is also considered a good practice as it will increase the retention ratio of your site. The retention ratio is nothing but the average time spent by users on your site.
Add Comment
Now, let’s see how you can add comments to your site. For this, you just need to go to the post/page of your site where you want to comment and then just write your message and simply click on the post comment. Your comment will be published. In this section, you can also reply to the visitors and users. When you reply to any comment on your site, your comment will be displayed right under that comment. Sometimes, you can also
stretch it too long by talking to the visitor/user in the comment section which is called “threaded” comment.
Edit Comment
This is one of the best features of wordpress. Sometimes, we reply in a hurry or normally post comments in a hustle where we falsely write words/sentences we don’t want to. Also, we might sometimes prefer to change the entire comment on the post. In that case, this is really helpful.
You can also do it quickly by using the quick edit option. This option helps you to edit the comment without reloading the page. And if you want more details like name, e-mail, website URL, and more options then you should choose the edit option. You can use this option to recover some comments that are marked as spam but they aren’t actually. I hope you loved this feature.
Moderate Comment
This feature is also very helpful for the admin of the site. The moderation feature of the comment allows the admin to approve or delete the comment. But you can also change this setting from the discussion option in the main setting.
You can enable moderation by going to settings >> Discussion and check ✔️ the option as approve comment manually. But we usually don’t enable this option to get rid of spam comments. This feature gives strong authority to the admin of the website to prevent abusive, harmful, and spam content from getting published on the site.
