I have a bachelor’s degree in commerce, and I am interested in evolving technologies and their applications. I am currently doing an internship in a textile retail shop in the areas of finance and information technology.
I was almost done with my bachelor’s degree and had completed a few other online courses when I had joined the PG program in AIML.
We had an enormous amount of data at our disposal but did not know how to analyze it and draw insights and conclusions from it. Using simple data analytics techniques in python, we were able to interpret the wealth of analytical information on hand to make informed decisions.
Data and information were not being utilized to their full potential. There was also ambiguity as to how to extract the most out of the data.
The textile industry is very old and conservative. It is very difficult to bring in change, but the traditional way of doing things was becoming increasingly irrelevant and impractical. Solutions offered by technology were the need of the hour.
Detailed statistical analysis, supervised learning techniques, and unsupervised learning techniques were used.
AI/ML concepts applied have helped in making informed decisions in all domains like finance, inventory management, supplier payouts, etc. It has also helped in grouping customers and targeting them through advertisements.
Though all problems could not be solved, the simple AI/ML techniques in Python I learned in class have helped a great deal. I proposed to use these techniques on different datasets after preparation to achieve our objectives as no one size fits all.
It has already had a good impact on various levels of management and decision-making and is expected to improve future results. It has resulted in better organization of data and has improved all aspects of the business.
This has given me a good opportunity to revisit and recollect everything I have learned in class and put it into practice. After all, we learn things to apply them to real-world settings.
