I am an Electronic engineer from Pune University, married to Medha and a father to my daughter Swarada. I have over 20 years of IT experience in the BNFS domain.
I was enjoying a vacation with my family and friends before the pandemic hit in March 2020. On a serious note, I was working in an IT firm as a Lead Analyst on Mainframe applications for over 15 years.
It was more of a conscious decision to upskill myself and GL was my first choice. My professional competence combined with the rigorous training program made me aware of the next steps that would enable me to utilise existing knowledge and carve a new career path.
Great Learning offered me the opportunity to learn from eminent professors and industry professionals. Online learning is different from classroom training. I was apprehensive due to the inherent silo nature of online training over live interaction in a classroom setting. However, the videos offered are self-explanatory, weekly discussions with mentors provide clarity and frequent industry sessions give a reality check with practical implementations. Additionally, Great Learning was efficient throughout the course in accepting suggestions to improve the efficacy of the program.
Professor videos offer a theoretical background of the topic in a clear and concise manner. Frequent replays of these videos help understand the basics. To add to that, a mentor plays an essential role in giving you insights into practical aspects. Doubts are clarified not only during sessions but also throughout the week over chats. Mentoring sessions reasonably enable students to simplify and understand the topic being covered. It enables us to go beyond the theory into practical implementation.
My mentor has played a huge role in my successful completion of the Post Graduate program. The two-hour session was worth more than an entire week of self-study. It enabled me to understand a problem statement and deliver solutions to complete assignments.
I have learnt the value of data in an organisation’s success. The skill-set and associated certificate have opened new possibilities for my career path. It has helped me look for opportunities within and outside my current organisation.
Analytics is a vast subject. PGP-DSBA introduces you to nearly all aspects of Data Science. The student must utilize their time and energy to gain perspectives of these aspects and find career options that are most applicable to them.
