I’m Priyadharshini K, working as an automobile professional with 8+ years of experience.
I’ve recently completed my Post Graduate Program in Data Science and Business Analytics with Great Learning. I honestly feel accomplished about this achievement, as completing this course was a real test of my endurance and skillsets.
I am a Design and Release engineer who does component development for upcoming model cars. My previous role did not consider dealing with the data diligently. I was not aware of techniques to make good use of the surplus data available from multiple channels of my organization.
Being a working professional and stunted by the COVID scenario, it was absolute that only an online mode of education would be possible. Hence, I started scouting for schools offering quality online education and landed up choosing Great Learning to pursue Data Science and Business Analytics.
As I am from a non-IT background, I was apprehensive at the start of the course as to whether I could do coding. But gradually, as the program progressed, I understood that the curriculum was structured in such a way that even non-coders could develop a passion for coding. The weekend mentoring sessions conducted by the Great Learning faculty really ushered in to boost my curiosity levels up to learn this subject. Also, I made sure I watched the lesson videos completed my assignments/quizzes before the class well in advance so that I have conceptual clarity when the mentor talks about the same subject.
One best part about the support system from Great Learning is that the mentors were available 24*7 over the officially created WhatsApp group, so we discussed our doubts and clarified them as and when they arose. The ‘Need assistance?’, a window in the Olympus portal also helped me a lot as I could get quicker feedback on questions posted.
The new skill sets that I’ve learned/got exposed to during this program have opened wider horizons for me in my future career path. Earlier my career search in my growth path was limited to the Automotive domain. But now, I have multifaceted skill sets to check for opportunities in multiple domains.
For those who aspire to learn Data Analytics, one must understand that the journey does not end in 11 months, and learning is never-ending. Rigorous hard work and dedication are required to successfully complete any course, of course, with support from family and friends. Last but not least, the journey is truly rewarding.
