I am Akash.S.V from Nagercoil. I have completed my Bachelor’s degree (B.E) from R.M.K. Engineering College (Chennai) in Electronics and Communication Engineering. I am currently working as an Engineer in Tata Elxsi (Bangalore).I belong to the Transportation Business Unit (TBU) with a total experience of 1 year and 10 months.
The biggest professional challenge which I faced during my work was to adapt with the whole work from home concept as it was the beginning of my career, I was expected to complete all the training’s and other pre-requisites of my project in virtual environment where I felt that it would be lot more easier and efficient if it was in the office environment where I could have learnt from all my experienced colleagues. Initially, it was a roller coaster ride, but day by day I got used to that environment, because each day I faced some issues and each issue gave me some learning where I researched and solved the problem all by myself. The challenge made me strong and independent in the field where I was working.
As I have always admired what data can achieve and how data science and machine learning play a major role in changing the world, I started doing my research on the platforms where I can efficiently learn about this technology. After doing a lot of research and getting guidance from my friends, I came to the conclusion that Great Learning is the best platform to learn. As I was very well accustomed to learning from an online medium, the idea of online learning made me pursue the course to the fullest of my ability.
Each mentored session had its own importance, even though it’s an online learning medium and all the videos provided are very well described, mentored session is the one which helped to connect all the dots and provided a live hands on experience which I would say is the most crucial and the most essential part in learning this technology. So a very big thumbs up and a whole lot of gratitude for all the mentors who guided me throughout the course.The quality of each mentored session is professional, highly informative and interactive and helped to resolve all the doubts.
My mentor helped me understand the concepts with real life scenarios and also cleared my doubts when I was stuck.
My mentor guided me on how to tackle the given problem with detailed demonstration of the concepts during mentored sessions. I have learnt how raw data can be converted into useful informative data with all the different techniques in machine learning and how the resultant data can be used to make predictions giving precise recommendations that can help with major developments and results in the overall improvement from the current scenario.
As a suggestion: Firstly, know what you really need and the final goal which you wish to achieve. Do your own research on the topics which you plan to learn. Have some basic idea about the topic/ technology which you wish to learn. Coding skills is an added value not only for this course but for any top trending technology, so if you are aware of some coding language (Python ) it will benefit you a lot throughout the course as you can concentrate more on the concepts and the technical part of the course. Finally, always have the thirst to learn new things and enjoy the course you have opted for, as curiosity is the one which pushed me to pursue the course.
