I graduated as BTech – Civil Engineering from OEC, Post Graduated as MBA-Finance from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, having an experience of 8 years into banking domain, worked with various large private banks and anchored different roles with both Retail and Corporate Banking. Having affinity towards statistics and data, motivated me to pursue the PG program in Business Analytics from Great learning, due to the versatile program, I was able to switch from Banking to Analytics domain. Currently working as Senior Pricing Analyst with Advance Auto Parts, Hyderabad. I was working as AVP in RBL Bank for the Working Capital Finance Department before joining this program.
Biggest challenge was without any prior experience in Analytics, whether or not the program will help me to have a career transition. Due to the competition and transformation in the banking sector, I was not interested to continue further, that is where I looked for a career transition.
The entire process of career transition was challenging and exciting. The total rounds of interview faced was 5 including the HR round. Post completion of the PG Program, I updated my details across various job portals. Within a few days, I got a call from one of the consultants for the opening with Advance Auto Parts. I had just started my preparations for the interview, and with whatever time I was left with, I was very uncertain whether I would be able to crack those interview rounds or not. However in between the interview rounds, I was taking guidance from our faculty member of Great Learning, special mention to Mr Vivek, who really advised well and after all the tough grind, got selected as Senior Pricing Analyst with Advance Auto Parts.
Actually understanding the job role and accordingly preparing an objective statement integrated with your job role, helped me to show the confidence that I will be able to surpass my deliverables.
Pursuing a PG program in parallel with my job was initially difficult, however the curriculum and mentor support helped in overcoming the same.
It is really thrilling to move to a new role in my professional journey. I would surely like to see myself in leadership roles in the Analytics Domain. Last but not the least, if we are thorough with the concepts taught during the PG program then the career transitions are surely achievable.
