Hey there! I am Sasmit Gawali. I studied Electronics and Tele-communication Engineering from Pune and have a few years of experience in the Software Industry, especially in Data engineering. Currently, I am working with Turtlemint, a fintech startup, as a Data Engineer. I am also a civil service aspirant and a wildlife photographer.

Before joining this PGP AIML program, I was working as SDE in a reputed startup and seeking a good platform to learn and understand Data, AI & ML. The technologies which I was working on before were mostly related to cloud-based data analytics.

I had a gap of almost three years in my IT career due to Civil Services preparation. You must know that civil services preparation needs maximum time, money, and concentration, but it is very uncertain and does not always yield expected results. I wanted to get over that phase of uncertainty by filling that void. That time was engulfed with chaos and fear-mongering created by COVID-19. I had decided to make my plan B work so well that within a year or two, I could make myself self-reliant. I got back to IT at that time and started learning more about AI & ML. I wanted to make my foundations strong enough with the help of cutting-edge technologies, and starting with AI ML was no exception to that.

I went on to search multiple options for similar courses and found GL appropriate because of the detailed syllabus, duration, flexibility, and course fee. The most important thing which matters to me is the number of case studies, assignments, and capstone projects. Before making any decision, you should get some advice from experienced folks and colleagues. I did the same and chose GL over others.

These sessions are extremely important to gain conceptual clarity along with practical hands-on knowledge. It provides a platform to discuss your doubts, interact with peers, gain knowledge, and learn new methods of implementation. And whatnot! I can not imagine missing a single session. But, if you miss them by any chance, you’ll get a recording so that learning won’t stop.

I can say that the quality of these sessions is up to the mark. It depends on a mentor to mentor and their teaching style. Few things become routine for these sessions, like connecting virtually over a zoom call, taking down notes, asking questions, getting individual attention from mentors. I feel the mentors are good and knowledgeable people, and hence the quality of their sessions is good.

The mentor is helping me in every possible way to excel in this domain which is an ocean of concepts. All those concepts are interconnected. And I feel the mentor is a captain of our ship who is sailing with us in the ‘AIML’ ocean and helping us to reach our destination.

Well, accomplishments can be talked of when we are really good at the skill sets. I think ends would justify means if I properly utilize my time, money, and other resources. GL, mentors, all other resources are acting as means to achieve the end goal. There is an observable increase in my understanding of the concepts, and I am trying to apply the same to solve different business problems at my workplace.

The time you spend to upskill yourself will yield results in the future in numerous forms. It’s our job to get well acquainted with every word of the syllabus. Doing assignments regularly and practicing more and more case studies. After all, data is the new oil. And if you get to know the nitty grits of the data, you can transform it as you wish, you can make useful models to solve further business problems. So, just follow the timetable and enjoy the journey. Best of luck!
