Artificial Intelligence is a growing field. Upskilling in this field will help you enhance your career. Read further to learn about Balasubramanyam’s journey with Great Learning’s PGP Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Course in his own words.
I started my career in the year 2005 as a Software Engineer. From the very beginning, I have been in the automotive software/firmware development sector. For the past six years, I have been into Advance Drive Assist System (ADAS) development, delivering cutting-edge technology for future autonomous vehicles.
As ADAS is moving towards fully autonomous cars (driverless cars), the need of the hour is a smart algorithm that can learn from the environment and assist drivers in predicting the next actions. The legacy approach is not scalable or feasible to meet ADAS requirements. So, making use of AIML is evident in the ADAS domain.
I did an extensive market study before joining Great Learning. To be very honest, I kept Great Learning as one of the first options. When I saw some introductory sessions taken by subject experts Dr. Kumar Muthuraman and Dr. Abhinanda Sarkar, I was impressed by the explanation provided by them on AIML topics. Overall, I was convinced that Great Learning would provide me the best platform to achieve my goal.
Having a mentor for learning is essential. If we don’t have designated mentors, most of our understanding is unilateral. I got a great opportunity to interact live with industry experts. Also, in mentoring sessions, we experienced a classroom-like environment where common ideas were exchanged. The quality of mentoring was outstanding. Mentors played a key role in the successful completion of the program. They put all the effort into ensuring that everyone is clear with the concepts. During the Capstone Project, the mentoring session was taken to the next level by giving the right direction and making sure the project team executed the project independently. Along with mentors, even the Program Manager played an important role in program success. During COVID-19 time, the support from them was highly appreciated.
Before joining this course, I had little or no knowledge of Python, but now I can handle or solve a problem statement by using Python. In the ADAS domain, supervised learning and computer vision are key concepts, and I am happy that I could learn a lot about it through this program. I learned RASA, and we implemented a production-ready chatbot for our Capstone project, thanks to my mentor for suggesting to use RASA.
Currently, we have abundant data available on many problem statements, but it is important to know how we need to use that data for designing a better solution for the future. This is where analytics and data science play a key role. There is a great opportunity and need for good Data Engineers for all industrial sectors, so it is essential to get the right understating and learning on these concepts through the right medium.
