I have 17+ years of experience in IT. Working as Senior Architect with Marlabs Inc., Kochi. My IT experience is in Microsoft Platform. I have experience in ASP.Net, C#SharePoint, Power Platform, and so on are all used to develop web applications and services.
I have done my Pre-degree (12th) with Maths, Chemistry, and Physics as the subjects. I am not a very big fan of Maths, and my scores in Maths are average. Since 1992, I have not had any touch in Mathematics, and all the sessions I have attended for Data Science, they used to put in the slides big and complex mathematical formulas, and I was always afraid of upgrading myself in DS, AI, or ML. I thought these were not my cup of tea.
This year, I decided to upgrade my Data Sciences & Artificial Intelligence. When I searched on google for top institutes for DS, AI, ML, the first that came was Great Learning. I checked the syllabus with my cousin, who is doing a Ph.D. in ML, he said the content is very good. I was a little bit nervous about how with less interactive sessions, I could manage to learn, but the LMS of GL has been so enriched with content that I am feeling blessed to get to know about PGP- AIML Online Program.
Initially, our batch faced challenges in getting the right mentors who could help us with our queries and understanding. But Great Learning has a very wonderful team and dedicated Program Managers that addressed our concerns, and our current mentor is awesome with industrial experience and helps us in our queries and doubts. We have dedicated WhatsApp groups and Slack channels for communication and collaboration. The quality of mentoring sessions is amazing, from conducting the sessions to sharing the content.
I consult with my mentor not only for the queries during the session but for deciding on other courses with Great Learning like cloud computing. We have a common Slack Channel and Whatsapp group where the extra content and materials are shared by our mentor.
I thought that this wouldn’t be possible for me and not my cup of tea. I have been drinking it and enjoying it for the last 4-5 months. The GL team made my fear of learning Maths, ML, DS, AI vanish.
If we have the right attitude and passion for learning new things, if we are accompanied and supported by the right team that guides us, then we can learn whatever we want. Great Learning is a wonderful team that will help us to accomplish this with the right content and right people. Participation in Hackathons, getting involved in team discussions, and taking all opportunities that come your way, will make our journey exciting and helpful. Great Learning provides great opportunities for us, so grab it without a second thought. All dots will be in place gradually. All the best!
