I am Subramanian working as Data Science Operations & Innovations Manager, Unilever, Bangalore.

I have an overall experience of 15 years in various domains like FMCG, Retails, Pharma, and Re-insurance with industry skills of Project/Team Management, Vendor/Client Management, and various technical skills predominantly on Oracle PL SQL and Python.

Before the PGP-AIML program, I was working as an Associate Vendor Manager. At my current workplace, there are a lot of manual processes to get some insights on vendor data where I have applied Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning at Work.

As part of my vendor management role, I would collate various vendors’ data on their contracts and commercials like Contract values, Purchase Orders, Invoices, Timesheets, etc. It was a manual process to get some insights out of the data received. So I applied the EDA and Visualization through Python coding to showcase the insights and applied some basic Machine Learning techniques to do some predictive analysis like FX impact on different regions, Tax payments, penalties, etc.

It was not enabling the leadership team to make some key decisions as there were no clear insights on the drivers that were causing the issues. To solve the above problem, I used EDA and some Machine Learning Algorithms like Linear Regression, Decision Trees. It led to a savings/potential savings/recovery of 1 Million Euros.

The recommendation was to focus on the key regions and key service lines that we had to target where the savings could be tapped. It led to a savings of 1 Million Euros and higher visibility of the team, which helped in expanding the team’s footprint within the organization.

The AIML program helped me to make a switch to Data & Analytics department internally, which was my primary goal to take up this course.
