I am Vivek Madhavan, a commerce graduate from Delhi University and a huge football follower. During my under-graduation years, I was a part of AIESEC, a global youth-run organisation, which gave me exposure and helped me in gaining confidence. It trained me to enter the corporate world and made me realise the importance of building on my personal and professional skills.
It was in my third year that I decided to shift my field of study from Commerce and instead enter the world of Data Science, which intrigued me. I wanted to study and further work in an environment where I could learn every day. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, and I, like many others, was stuck completing my bachelor’s degree sitting at home.
After college ended, I finally decided to take the leap of faith and pursue my dream of Data Science from Great Learning.
Despite not having a technical background, the Great lakes curriculum was curated in a perfect manner. The importance of building a good knowledge base for the field was ensured by all my professors. Personally, for me, the biggest challenge was learning and understanding Python. However, my mentors made the process simple for me. Halfway through the course, I was selected for an internship at ProHance as a Data Analyst Intern.
I used all my learnings which had a huge impact on my work, and it also helped me set future goals for myself. I finally decided to get into Product Management. In August, I got my first job offer from Hubbler as a Junior Product Consultant. Currently, my job role entails creating applications for Automating Business Processes, making Workflow, User Story and facing corporate clients on a day to day basis.
Within a span of one year, Great Learning has helped me in getting on the right track, pursuing my interest and finally in a career transition.
