My name is Balaji Baskar, and I got my Masters in Computer Application (MCA) from S.S.N. Chennai. I have both technical and non-technical experience as I have worked for an MNC for two years, and then I was running my business. Before I had joined the PGP-AIML program, I was freelancing.

I am also a part of an NGO, and in the organization, they maintain the records of all the people who are being benefited and have been benefited so far. The organization also sends a notification to all the interested participants regarding their upcoming events. When I was talking to a person in management, I came to know the process that is happening in the organization and about how the records are being maintained.

At that time, I had completed the projects in my Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning program, and I had learned how to do Data Cleaning and automating a repetitive process and many other techniques by then. So, I offered to help them by applying what I had learned in my PG in AIML from Great Learning

In the scenario, volumes of data are available regarding the people who were and are being benefited from the organization. Because data were collected from various sources and means, but consolidated data wasn’t available. I created a Database with appropriate fields in excel. These processes involved were earlier being done manually, consuming time and a lot of human efforts, which could be unitized elsewhere.

The nature of the problem in the scenario that I identified was the redundancy of processes that were being manually done but can be automated, and inefficiency in resources spent could be reduced. The entire process took a lot of time to complete, and thus the overall efficiency was very low.

In the first few sessions of my PG in AIML from Great Learning, I was taught Python from basics and algorithms to implement Machine Learning. When I saw the data and the process that is happening in the NGO, I was quickly able to relate what I studied in the course. After discussing the situation that I had with the relevant members, I was given permission to implement the knowledge that I gained from PG in AIML from Great Learning. I implemented my knowledge from Great learning as I was taught.

At first, I did Data Warehouse because the data for the organization was collected from various means like Google sheet, by manually recording from the public, and so on. I put all data available into excel. Secondly, I implemented data cleaning – set rules for how the data must appear (format) and make sure the data fit the given format—then implemented EDA, which clearly visualized the relationship between various data. Once the data is made into one file, segregation of data was done according to the needs of the organization, and multiple excel were made. The contacts were added to google contacts in a systematic format making the task of a particular person easier. I pickled the entire process so that it could be repeated any number of times.

While Implementing EDA, I was able to make predictions regarding the public who would come back to our organization, and till now, the predictions have worked with a high accuracy rate.

The impact my recommendations generated at the organization: Valuable time spent on Data warehousing, cleaning, searching were automated, and recommendations were given to the users to remind the customers on related functions as per their given prerequisites.

Along with the projects done in my PG in AIML, I was able to implement my knowledge in a real-world project helping me to grow as a better student and giving me satisfaction knowing my work will help in the better functioning of a service organization. The above successful project happened only through the concepts that I learned in my PG in AIML from Great Learning. The Mentors who I came across gave real-world example scenarios while explaining the course content making me understand the course content better. I must also thank my program managers, who were always there providing support guidance and resolving all the queries.
