I did my engineering in ENTC after completing it in 2016. I joined Infosys as a Process Executive from 2016-to 2017. Meanwhile, I was doing a certification course of Big data and Hadoop which drove my interest towards pursuing a Data Science course, and then did a PGD in Data Science from Manipal Institute of Higher education, which was an 11-month classroom program in 2017-2018 and then joined Nielsen Oct’18 and a Data Scientist and got promoted to Senior Data Scientist Apr’21. Recently in Aug ’21, I joined O9 solutions as a Data Scientist. I have a total of 4 years of work experience, including 3.6 yrs in the Data Science domain. Before joining the PGP-AIML Program, I was working as a Senior Data Scientist at Nielsen.
The biggest professional challenge before joining our program was thinking about how to be up to date with the new learnings in the Data Science domain, as working for 11-12 hrs per day doesn’t give me that amount of opportunity to brush up on the basics and new learnings. This course has helped me go through the basics, which I have learned 3 yrs before, and also I have learned some new learnings.
The reason why I chose Great Learning was that I got a call from your team, and they told me about the dual certification and the online curriculum, which looks good, so I thought of joining it. And at Great Learning, the mentoring sessions are refreshing as they are interactive.
The quality is good. They clear the doubt’s then, and they’re also they are approachable as I am an old school person biased towards learning in person rather than through recorded sessions as they make me feel committed towards my learning path, so yes, these sessions are the refreshments and encouragement for a week.
Through these newly learned skill sets, I have learned a few small things like adding a report. It helped me brush my presentation in a Jupyter notebook. Also, different projects gave me various ways of approaching the problem statement. All these things I am trying to inculcate in my daily work.
To the people who have just started the PGP-AIML course, I would just like to say that, be consistent, never give up on yourself your learnings and try to learn something new daily. I have always believed that if your mind is learning, you are growing in all aspects of your life.
