I have about 18 years of customer management experience in the BFSI domain, where I built service and customer retention teams and made them central to the way the organization functions.
A couple of years back, I made a jump into the tech side of things and managed the delivery of our software products. After 2 years, I decided I needed a small break to plan ahead, and so I quit my job and decided to upskill myself. Being a non-techie in the tech space and learning things from scratch. I believed in Great Learning as it is a reputed institution, and I wasn’t very worried about the quality of what you had to offer, although I did have apprehensions about how I could learn online. But speaking to the team here helped negate some of my worries about being able to do the course successfully.
The mentored learning sessions are tremendously helpful to seal your understanding of the concepts. They made a massive difference not just to help with the learning material but sometimes to help me get back on track when I felt like I wasn’t progressing. I was personally happy with them.
My mentor was available to clarify or even change the pace as needed. She was quite open to suggestions and nudged us the right way when needed. She was really supportive.
So to give you a perspective, I came back to studying again at the age of 40 and in an entirely new field. I’ve always loved working with data, and the story they tell gets me excited, but this was a different ball game altogether. Doing this PGP Data Science and Business Analytics Course opened my eyes to the possibilities of deriving so much information from complex data. I have applied what I learnt while building my new startup while researching the industry and looking at the data in front of me to understand the nuances of what it was suggesting.
Don’t try to consume the material all in one go. The modules are well-paced and planned in such a manner that they don’t overwhelm you. Most importantly, when you feel overwhelmed or need help, talk to your mentor or program manager, and it’s quite likely they will be able to point you in the right direction.
