What is your professional background?
I have around 4 years of experience in Sales and Marketing, before having to undergo a major surgery where I had to donate my liver to my father. After the surgery, I could not go back to my previous role of meeting clients on a daily basis, so my company (Reliance Jio) offered me a position as Executive Assistant to the CEO and my role involved basic Data Analytics. I always wanted to get into fields like sports analytics and performance analytics. So when I came across the AIML program by Great Learning, I signed up for it.

What did you like most about the program?

How was the curriculum structured to help learners from the non-technical background?
Initially, I was very sceptical and concerned as I was not from a technical background. But the faculty, mentors, and program managers supported and guided us very well and solved all our doubts to ensure all of us learn all the concepts irrespective of the educational background. It is amazing how just a year back, I was not aware of any technical terms and concepts of AI and machine learning and now I know so much more. It gives me a sense of confidence in myself and I am sure I will do really well in my career going forward.
How has upskilling helped you during the COVID-19 pandemic?
Online Learning has been a great relief as there is no need for me to quit my job to attend classes. Also, now when we are working from home and not allowed to go out, online learning is a great relief. The live sessions with industrial experts arranged by Great Learning also helped in getting industry knowledge.
How did the capstone project help you?
I worked on a project with NLP. It helped us understand the problem statement better, and the weekly sessions helped in clearing concepts and completing the project. We understood from the industry perspective the kind of work expected from us as professionals in the field of NLP.
Any advice to future aspirants
The only thing I would like to say is, whether you are from a technical background or not, the only thing that is important is to give your time and commitment to the course as it will take you a long way. Work hard, stay dedicated and you will rise high for sure.
