I Have 11 years of experience working in the ecommerce industry and recently joined Talent500 as a category manager. Before joining the PG program in Data Science and Business Analytics (DSBA) with Great Learning, I was working as an AM in Intellect Design Arena in the Marketing team.
At one point in my career, I wanted to enhance my analytical skills and add something valuable to my resume which can also be useful for my future professionally.
A friend suggested Great Learning to me, as they have good mentors and curriculum, so I went ahead and opted for this course. I was initially skeptical about doing a technical course without any engineering or IT background. However, proper sessions were conducted, which showed me how no prior knowledge is required.
It was a great journey, actually. WFH with a mundane job was making me dull, and this course gave me a new perspective. I was always looking forward to the weekend for my class. Transitioning directly in Data science is yet to happen, but it has helped me to get a new job that has analysis as its KRA.
Mentored learning sessions always helped in getting my doubts cleared whenever needed. Because of my newly acquired knowledge, I was able to provide new analysis to my previous company and also landed a new job in Talent500 as a Category Manager. I am pretty excited about it and want to apply my knowledge to excel in the new role. From here, I will try to get Data science as my core and shift myself completely into it.
I would advise people to learn analytics not only for job transition but to acquire a skill that can help them excel in life and change their perspective as analytical skills will get developed, which will, in turn, help you in their transition.
