My journey from a pharmacist with an MS in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to a leader in the realm of AI and Life Sciences has been a profound evolution. My educational background rooted in pharmaceuticals, led me to become a Life Sciences Domain Subject Matter Expert (SME). Over the years, I’ve been involved with various large pharmaceutical clients, ventured into medical devices, and embraced diverse roles such as Business Analyst, Testing Lead, Validation Lead, Domain SME, Trainer, CSV Manager, and Product Owner. The trajectory of my career took a monumental turn when I transitioned into leading a Computer System Validation (CSV) team for an account, while also contributing as a Functional Consultant for another.

My professional shift started when I pivoted from product development to focusing on the rapidly evolving landscape of technology, particularly the rising tide of AI and beyond. The upheaval caused by the pandemic accelerated the transformation of the Life Sciences industry’s infrastructure. As technologies began to interplay, I realized the necessity of delving into the underlying currents to truly add value. Engaging in extensive reading and exploration, I became awakened to the cutting-edge applications that technology was bringing to the Life Sciences field.

During my online research, I encountered Great Learning and the path forward became clear – embracing technology was the way to amplify the potential of my domain knowledge. Deepening my understanding of modern infrastructure unveiled the intricate web of connectivity that exists. In this interconnected world, data abounds, and with the power of modern computing, insights are unlocked. From insights, the journey extends to automating decisions and enhancing automation – a path perfectly facilitated by the journey that AIFL (AI and Integrated Future Learning) offers.

The AIFL course proved to be an eye-opener. Starting with a rudimentary grasp of AI and its applications, I embarked on a transformational process. Now, I comprehend the elements required to build an AI, understand the approach, and grasp the essential thought processes before embarking on an AI project. I’ve learned not to approach every problem with AI, but to identify the key elements that qualify as AI. Additionally, I’ve become conscious of the costs associated with AI maintenance – valuable insights that contribute to shaping a well-rounded AI strategy.

The overarching challenge I’ve taken on revolves around the topic, “AI and IoT Integrated Solution for reducing mortality post-kidney surgery.” Often, pre-surgical care is optimized with a six-sigma approach, yet post-surgical care can experience a steep decline once the patient is discharged. Patient lifestyle deviations can have dire consequences. This challenge isn’t limited to kidney surgeries; it’s applicable to any intricate and costly procedure. Implementing proactive, insightful monitoring in post-care has the potential to save lives, alleviate patient struggles, and ease the burden on healthcare systems.

As I reflect on my journey, it’s clear that my background in pharmaceuticals, coupled with a deep dive into technology and AI, has positioned me to revolutionize the Life Sciences field. The union of domain expertise and technological prowess holds the key to solving complex challenges and transforming patient care. The intersection of AI, IoT, and my domain knowledge is where innovation thrives, and I’m resolutely committed to pioneering this transformational journey.
