Upskilling with relevant courses helps speed up career growth. And to prove this statement right, we have with us Suchita Rohit Jaokar, an alumna of the PG Program in Product Management and Analytics (PGP-PMA). Read on to know more about Suchita’s journey.

Can you describe your background and job profile?

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and am currently working as a Product Manager. With around 16 years of experience with my current organization, I have a strong hold on Agile, Scrum, and Design Thinking. Moreover, I am a budding mentor and often engage in mentoring sessions in my organization.

What was your purpose behind learning Product Management?

I had a strong experience in product execution as an Internal product manager, catering to various Marketing products. But then I wanted to experience the end-to-end Product manager journey. I felt the need to understand Product Innovation, Strategy, and Analytics, which I had not been exposed to in my current role. I also wanted to understand product management at a larger scale which would help me learn B2B and B2C concepts. Hence, this led me to a comprehensive but, at the same time, extensive course in Product management offered by Great Learning in collaboration with Great Lakes.

How was your Great Learning upskilling experience?

My experience with Great Learning has been awesome. The course not only catered to my requirements perfectly but was also the right mix of faculty, mentor connections, networks, and duration. The program team kept us on our toes with submissions, assignments, and assessments. The course content and the online platform were easy to use.

What did you take away from the program that helped you in your business journey?

My key takeaways include the in-depth knowledge of end-to-end product management, from the need for a product to analytics. It also helped me understand various frameworks that further supported decision-making. I also learned about tools that aid a product manager in his/her day-to-day activities. Data analytics was an add-on, and I was able to understand and apply the concepts to large data sets. Overall, the program gave me a complete picture of Product management.

How was the experience of doing hands-on projects and sprint masterclasses?

The hands-on projects helped me apply the concepts to real-world case studies. These were quite challenging and helped validate my understanding. The research I used to do for projects made me think from the product manager’s perspective of that particular product. Additionally, the masterclasses at the end of each module helped me work in groups with my co-learners and understand their point of view too. The industry experts who conducted these masterclasses had in-depth knowledge and experience in their areas of expertise. It helps to understand how concepts are applied in live projects.

Why did you choose Great Learning?

I chose Great Learning because it was a perfect Product management course. Content, duration, faculty, capstone, and learning platform were the key decision makers for me to choose Great Learning. They also have an integrated job opportunities platform for alumni who can look for career changes shortly.

And finally, what is the biggest myth about product management you had before joining the program?

Product management is only for marketing graduates.
