I am a cross-functional IT professional with 5+ yrs of experience in functional project management and client relationship management. I have recently joined TCS as a Junior Project Manager and run a program targeting school kids. I have been in a client-facing role altogether, and I have successfully implemented CRM Packages and received various accolades professionally. I was with Great Lakes Chennai handling the implementation part of ion in its Chennai campus. I always wanted to explore and add additional skills to my forte, and that’s how this PGP AIML Happened and which I feel is a skill set in need and indeed. I always wanted to do a master’s program wherein I can learn the latest, relevant, and the right skills, and this AIML program was to the tee to what I was looking at.

The Capstone project we did was about Image classification using VR & AR in the Fashion clothing industry, which can lead to automated product categorization. This project was designed to adopt new-age technology to stay relevant in the market, understand customer behavior and purchase patterns, reduce manufacturing and inventory costs and stay profitable in a competitive environment. We proposed an image classification model for Western and Indian women’s clothing, handled the problem using three different state-of-art convolution neural networks, and presented an empirical study of applying these networks to the task of fashion clothing image classification. The idea of doing this project was a team decision, and this was ably supported and guided by our mentor.

Since the data required for our project involved is extensive, it took a lot of time to design and run our model. And this project involved us in resizing the entire image files, Manual data cleaning, writing resized images to the directory, and segregating the mixed channel images. It was time-consuming and redundant at times.

Our mentors provided the relevant assistance throughout our project and course work, and we had called every week at our preferred time slots to guide us through the progress. They had even assisted us during our project, lab work and provided the relevant market requirements / current trends.

The project we took was more into image classification, so we built a model to identify the clothing classifications targeting women. i.e., a saree or a t-shirt, for selective complex cases, we classified patterns like printed t-shirts, or checked sarees, etc. This is a traditional image processing task with domain-specific challenges of large variating styles, textures, shapes, and colors.

Our project was widely appreciated, and we have even suggested proceeding further on it through the following means.

  1. Solution for Men and Women Western and Indian clothing
  2. Fashion clothing object identification
  3. Clothing designing using generative adversarial networks
