My name is Abutaahir Bhadusha and I work as a technical leader with more than 20 years of experience in the semiconductor industry, specializing in the implementation of Physical Design. We were 4 team members for the Capstone Project. Our topic was – AI/ML solution to help Insurance companies to prepare competitive Auto Insurance based on vehicle usage and driving habits.
We brainstormed out of 70-80 curated list of project ideas that were provided to us by our mentors catering to 10 different industries. Within the team, we did lots of brainstorming and we shortlisted 6-7 topics, then 3, and then finally 1. We had chosen this topic as it was unique and a bit new to the Indian market, also we had expertise in our team working in Insurance (Allstate) IT company.
The AI Concepts applied in the capstone project were primarily classification and regression.
My learning outcome from the capstone helped push us into Design Thinking (Empathize, Ideation, Testing, Prototype/MVP), doing all the primary & secondary market research.
Basically, the capstone enabled us to think like an entrepreneur pitching their ideas to VC to raise funding.
My capstone project journey was really good. We all came from different backgrounds and worked on a common goal/objective. We were having weekly calls within the team on weekdays/weekends aligning with everyone’s convenient time, etc.
There was a good team spirit. We had distributed our works amongst ourselves on various topics. We connected to go over our research and put together a final piece. In the end, it was excellent teamwork and flawless execution. We had a great presentation.
How was your overall AIFL Program Journey?
The AIFL Program Journey was great. Right from the beginning (orientation), till the end (capstone).
– AI/ML concepts were very well taught
– Curriculum was good for the leaders
– Good Mentors (Dr. Narayana & Anwesh for Capstone)
– Live Calls with Industry Experts and interaction with them was Good
– Good support from program manager Priya
– Excellent support from Faculties (Dr. Abhinandhan Sarkar & Dr. Kumar)
Overall, a good learning experience.
I am yet to apply the learned concept at my workplace. Thinking about building POC and taking it forward with startup, etc.
