I am a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering, working in the IT field for the past 12 years. I started as a Test associate but then gradually and surely made my way up the corporate ladder learning different technologies along the way—currently an Associate Consultant and Tech Lead.
Worked as a Sr. Java Developer and led a team of engineers for a Healthcare client project based in the US as a Project Lead.
I am always eager to learn new tech and be aware of the upcoming developments in the tech world. My biggest challenge was how to create an organized learning pattern to upskill myself in the Data Science domain while working in a full-time job. I started numerous times with Data Science ‘101’ lessons, only to begin again in a month’s time.
While doing the research to find a good learning platform, which would not only help me have a robust learning graph but also provide structured learning material, that’s when I came across the Great Learning course for PGP-DSBA. I went through their curriculum and teaching methodologies, and it instantly felt right for me.
The program is wonderfully designed, where we get to study the module at our own pace with the curated study material, including video sessions by esteemed professors and industry stalwarts. Once done, we have the mentoring sessions every week to clear away all the doubts that may arise. And then the weighted weekly quizzes to help solidify the learnings and identify any weak areas that can be worked upon.
These sessions were really helpful to go beyond the literature provided on Olympus. The mentors assigned for each batch were all highly knowledgeable. Always available to help with any queries or doubts.
I would like to thank my mentor, Mr. Shohel Noor, for always providing practical and industrial applications in each of the modules and also encouraging a different perspective of looking at the problem and the solution.
I feel that the decision was made a year ago, and all the hard work has finally paid off. Now that I have acquired this new skill, I feel more confident to approach problems with a new perspective and apply analytical techniques in my work area. I plan to make the best out of what I have learned and create a space for myself in the Data Science domain that I have wanted for a long time.
As for advice to the newbies in the analytics field, I would suggest being persistent and having an open mind while going through the course. It’ll provide new horizons to your career, whichever field you are coming from.
