My name is Sumit Jain. I started my career as Software Developer in 2010 and started developing software for mobile applications in a leading organization in Chandigarh. I switched to different technologies over the period and learned different software development techniques. Currently, I am leading the Technical Head in one of the start-ups in Noida, where I have learned about business requirements, how businesses have evolved from earlier times to new era, what is the role of technology in current scenarios of business development and how technology will overcome different problems in future.
I started working in a start-up in the Agritech space after nine years of experience and currently working in the same organization along with my studies at PG Program AI & ML. From the academic side, before this program, I did PG in Software Systems from BITS Pilani in 2014.
Since I worked in different technologies and different organizations, I started feeling very stagnant, and because of which I started losing confidence in myself, and I was feeling like I was losing the vision towards future technology. Since I was leading the tech team in a start-up, it was very much required to look forward to the success of an organization that is dependent on technology. Everybody was developing platforms, but differences come where we introduce something different, differences where technology can answer the future questions. Selling products over a platform via technology was an old trend but bringing uniqueness in selling products over the platform is something the platform wants and what is expected from technology. AI and ML could answer this question, and this program gave me the confidence to reuse the data that we have collected in the past few years to answer future questions. This program imparted to me different techniques not only to perform but to think towards the future and develop the software that society needs or would need in the near future.
Learning AI & ML was not only my desire but also became a necessity, and Great Learning is a leading ed-tech in the space with a big brand value which means pertaining quality. When I searched for AI & ML, I found the curriculum perfectly suited to my requirement and education imparted by the leaders and experienced faculty. This forced me to choose GL. Earlier I was tensed that though GL is a big brand, but how they will handle so many students and how personal attention can be given to students and what if I would need any support or if I have any doubts in any course, how that would be cleared, but as I started looking into course videos and attended my mentor classes my apprehensions and doubts were cleared, and I gained new energy to perform like a matured and competitive student. GL gave wings to my thoughts.
Mentors are industry experts and very much experienced. They have gone through different phases of this technology and are well known for the problems faced during understanding and writing codes. When such an experienced person acts as a mentor for us, we really feel a helping hand is there with us. And the classes taken by such mentors were like a cherry on the cake, and it’s another round of revision for the course that we studied during that week. In these sessions, we had a personal guide, and the best part was that there were only a few students in one learning session, so it was much easier to ask doubts and clear them and also put your thoughts in front of the mentor. These sessions helped me to clear all my doubts. The mistakes done by us were quickly rectified, and the right direction was given to our thoughts.
Mentor acted as a second teacher or consultant during any course. They not only helped with our course but guided us in ongoing organizational projects related to AI & ML. They were with us not only during sessions but during the whole week, even when sessions were not there. Mentor has supported the best way they could and cleared so many doubts.
I thought of doing two organizational projects during the span of the course, and I have already started one of them where I am using my collected data to make some predictions that will help the customers of my organization to choose products wisely and at the best price. After this, I’ll start with another project related to image processing and product recognition.
I would like to suggest to upcoming AIML aspirants that follow your faculty, mentor, and especially program manager as they will mold your career and while learning analytic, analyze in every direction and ask the smallest and stupidest doubt because it will give you directions of thinking and analytics is the deep field where there is no end of thinking. Analytics is all about deep thinking and analyzing, which is endless.
