Well, to start with my background I would say I am 34 years old, I belong to a place called Bandel in West Bengal. I had done my schooling till 12th back there in my hometown and came to Bangalore for my Engineering in CSE stream (2007 – 2011) Post completing my Engg. I started working as a Trainee Software Engg in the android domain, that’s the start. Since then I  have worked in multiple companies as a Senior Software Engg/Team Lead till now majorly in Android application development or android open source customization.

I was pursuing my career in Android development across mobile/TV/wearables etc. based on the opportunities I got. Prior joining to GL I was working with Tech Mahindra India Ltd as

Product Lead in Android Development project. The biggest challenge was coping with multiple languages as the software industry is evolving towards uniformity across platforms hence every now and then a new language is published and to be on top of our career we need to learn or implement it so that it can get counted in our experience. So here learning a new language was a pain. Instead, I was looking to learn a mother language that can help me implement across many platforms, hence python was on my list. One more challenge was coping with multiple data structures & Algorithms which at times are totally unpredictable and come tougher in our way to crack an interview, hence was looking for a field of study where probably much more research works are involved and I can prove better.

The transition journey was smooth for me, thanks to my Program Manager (Saloni Aggarwal), who helped throughout all the ups and downs. During coverage of core modules in our DSBA course, Nitin’s classes were such a treat to me. I really enjoyed all the classes, it helped me more than watching the videos at times. The reasons for transitions were simple. After 9 yrs of Software Development, I wanted to learn Data science using python which can leverage one way my career into the Analytics or Business Development side similarly can also improve my ability of coding skills in a universal language like python. My motive was to learn data science & work in the software industry as a Pre-Sales or Business Analyst role where I can be able to help in terms of any business decisions making by using my underneath analysis skills, it can be also an android apps performance in terms of a product, so fairly that was the idea of career transition.

Things that helped me in the course, I would say here were my willpower I can achieve this irrespective of all the difficulties that come across & family support. Nitin’s classes to understand all those topics really gave the confidence There was an immense amount of support & co-operation I got from the mentor as well as my Program Manager.
