I am a B.Tech Graduate in Chemical Engineering. Before joining the DSBA program, I was working as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing company (Hindustan Zinc Limited).
Even before joining HZL, I was looking for opportunities in the Data Science Field because of my interest. But couldn’t crack any interviews because of not having any coding knowledge. Learning is the need of the hour. Coding and database languages were very challenging. This made me realize that I am in need of learning a professional course in order to get going towards my interesting field of work.
When I wanted to learn data science from a reputed organization, I googled and found many quora posts pointing towards Great Learning. Great Learning had a good word of mouth as well among my friends and seniors.
One thing which I really liked about GL after joining the course is the kind of content and video materials they provide. The materials were rich in content and taken by top professors in both India and US. The mentors were really helpful and easily approachable at any time. Through this program, I got to learn Python, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
As a part of the excelerate program with GL, I got placed in Ugam, A Merkle Company as an Analyst. With the pandemic around, it was really difficult to get a job outside. But GL brought many companies even during this pandemic and helped me land a job in my desired field of work.
The skills I learned through this program are helping me today in my job, where I work on Big Data using PySpark.
If anyone is trying to make a career transition to the Data Science field, then GL is the go-to place. But one must be really prepared to work hard and face the struggle at least in the initial phase of their career in the new field.
