I am currently working as a Senior Data Scientist in NielsenIQ, Bangalore (which formerly was a part of Nielsen). I joined Nielsen in the year 2016. Before that, I did my PGDM from the International School of Management Excellence, Bangalore & B.Sc (Mathematics & Computer Applications) from the University of Allahabad. I have been working with NielsenIQ since 2016 under a team that closely works with many of the highly skilled Data Scientists and Analytics professionals.
My biggest challenge was to keep up with my colleagues who are well versed in AI & ML, I always found the job extremely exciting but I felt that whatever knowledge or skills that I had were not enough and I needed to learn more in this field to grow in my career path.
I did a lot of research on different platforms/institutes that provided similar training but I selected Great Learning’s PGP AIML Course because of the amazing reviews from the alumni and also because of the content of the course. As most of my classes for this course were held offline in Bangalore, I didn’t face any challenges. However, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, when online classes started, it was a little tough to attend initially (as it was my first online class experience ever), but later it became easy, and frankly speaking, none of us had any other options because of the pandemic. I would just like to add here that though the classes were held online, I never faced any challenges, we got our queries resolved, almost all the topics were covered during these sessions and the remaining were done over the extra webinars so overall it was a great experience and we didn’t miss anything.
Mentored Learning sessions are extremely important. In today’s world where no matter how much you learn, it’s never enough, I think the GL Sessions made it a little bit easier to stay on the right track. These sessions gave us a kick start in our learning journey and I think this means a lot when you have just started in your analytics career and would like to grow in the Data Science world. It was very good. We got to learn a lot from the highly experienced Faculty.
Before joining this program, I felt like a novice in this field among my colleagues who are well versed and highly experienced in the field of Data Science. But now I feel as if I am ready to explore and learn more in this field.
My advice would be to never underestimate yourself and start practicing and implementing whatever you learn in your day-to-day job.
