Finding your passion and working towards it can be really exciting! Read further to learn how Ayan Dutta was able to overcome challenges and transition into the field of data science and analytics, and learn more about his journey with Great Learning’s PGP Data Science and Business Analytics Course in his own words.
I am from Guwahati. I love playing sports in my free time. I have done B.E and M.Tech in Electrical Engineering. I have experience in the IT and Education Sector.
Our business is publishing books in regional languages. Due to the change in reading habits of the people with an inclination towards English language, the business was seeing a down trend. The biggest challenge was to find ways to expand into other domains like College Books and create a market around it.
When I was doing my Masters I got exposure to data analysis using statistical techniques and I wanted to join the field of data science. I had some responsibilities in my family business so I couldn’t take up any course or study further about the data science field then. Finally in 2019 December I got the opportunity to join the PGP DSBA course at Great Learning. And this was the start of my career transition into Data Science.
The learning part of the Transition process was really exciting, I learned different methods to find insights from data and also take part in interesting activities like Hackathon. I had 2 rounds of interviews, one Written Test and one Technical cum HR.
This was my first offer and I got selected.
The curriculum was very well balanced, giving enough material to study weekly so that I could manage my work as well. The mentor support was crucial, it helped me in getting new perspectives of topics learnt from the recorded videos during the week.
I feel very happy, excited and thankful for the opportunity I got. There is still a lot to learn in this evolving dynamic field of Data Science, and I am looking forward to it.
The field of Data Science is very interesting and it is something which will solve many problems in the future. And if data and problem solving excites you, analytics is the best field to work in.
