There is an increase in demand for professionals with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Skills. Employers are looking for individuals with AI skills. I was working as an AWS Cloud Solution Architect and RPA Solution Architect before I joined the program. So with the rise in demand for AI and ML-based work to develop a high-end digital solution and not just simple automation, I decided to take up a course that will allow me to learn the concepts from scratch and in detail.
I have always been fascinated by computer and software programs, and hence I did my B.Tech in Computer Science domain. After graduation, I started my career in an IT Company and have been working on various business domains and technologies like RPA & Cloud Computing. With the inception of the craze of Digital Transformation across global enterprises, I started to know about digital technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, etc. I became very curious to learn and explore these technologies to upskill myself to get the opportunity to work in these trending technologies. My ex-boss in a previous organization then encouraged me to take up a PG program to learn all these technologies from scratch and upgrade my technical skillset. So finally, I decided to take the PG Program in AIML – Online with Great Lakes / Great Learning in 2019. I received a lot of good reviews from my colleagues who were already students of Great Learning.
I am currently working in Genpact as a Data Scientist and AWS Cloud Solution Architect.
The professional challenge for me was to get upskilled in Digital Technologies, which shall provide opportunities for me to work in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning based roles. This is where I took up the challenge and did some basic courses on AI and ML and started learning the concepts right from scratch. Later I enrolled in a long-term course that would allow me to get better exposure.
Great Learning’s mentoring sessions have been very helpful and the key aspect of my online program. Since we have self–paced learning videos, a lot of conceptual queries and doubts do arise, and a live mentor connect helps to solve those queries with real-time examples. The mentoring session also helps in understanding the concepts from a different angle as compared to the explanation in the video lecture.
Initially, my batch was lucky enough to have a great mentor Mr.Sanjoy, who has been very apt, clear, and helpful in providing an easy explanation of the Machine Learning concepts. His teaching has been excellent, and we got to learn concepts very well from his sessions. We used to be very well prepared for every session he used to conduct. He used to share a lot of external links and learning libraries to read more about each concept. The mentor for my Capstone project, Mr. Saurabh, was also very experienced in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and helped to learn a lot of concepts while working with real-time data for NLP-based model build.
I have managed to get a role of a “Data Scientist” in my organization, and the learnings from this program have directly helped me to apply the same in my work. I can accomplish tasks or solve business problems compared to my other teammates, who already have more experience than me in the Data Science field.
AI/ML aspirants should be precise in deciding in what domain they need to upskill themselves based on their interest or work expertise and start the program with dedication and determination. Data Science as a domain is extensive within itself, so one should spend a good amount of time learning concepts like probability, statistics, maths, etc. This will help them to replicate the logic while writing programs for a specific problem. Even after finishing up the program, one still needs to keep upgrading the knowledge and get accustomed to the new concepts and methodologies that are coming into the market.
I convey my best regards and wishes to everyone joining Great Learning for your new Digital journey. Happy Learning!
