I have an engineering background in E&C, passed out in 2005, and since then, I have been working as a full-stack software engineer in companies like Infosys, TCS, and Fidelity with over 16 years of experience developing software applications for various Fintech clients. I live in Bangalore along with my wife, who is a practicing orthodontist, and we have a 5-year-old daughter.
At the time of the course, I was a Principal Software Engineer responsible for automating back-office operations for the firm. My role involved studying business processes and providing solutions to them, thus digitizing the manual work. It also involved overlap with NLP engineers, which inspired me towards the field of AIML. Having played various roles across geographies and being in leadership positions, I fully believed in the potential of AI, which was the key motivating factor for joining the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning PG program.
I have always been adept in programming using many languages and also dabbled myself in process automation using various low-code platforms. I wanted to bring the factor of AIML to my work which can be applied in various business process solutions that I come across. I also wanted to upskill and continue the spirit of learning.
These days there are so many learning platforms, and also one can train themselves through online content. However, I wanted a platform to learn the technology scientifically and a program that helps me stay grounded, organize my courses and study plans and learn organically. I came across GL through youtube ads which made me start exploring and instinctively made me realize that this medium is much better than anything else I had come across. Although I didn’t have many apprehensions about learning in an online medium, I enrolled for a classroom session, but the pandemic left no choice but to switch back to online. However, GL made my online learning seamless, and I didn’t have any issues.
The mentored learning sessions are great add-ons. It’s great to interact with mentors who are moving the needle in their respective organizations in the field of AI-ML. It’s always wonderful to learn from them who can also share their industry experiences.
Through my courses and my learnings, I have come to realize that GL upholds the quality of learning at all times through their mentors, classroom sessions, projects, hands-on labs, quizzes, and their learning materials. The sessions were well organized, vetted through many industry experts, and the best mentors were deployed to impart the course. Mentors were seasoned in the field and brought their rich background, which supplemented our learnings. Personally, I have tried other online learning content, and in comparison, Great Learning sessions really stand out in terms of quality and completeness. Mentors were hand-picked industry experts with a rich industry background. All mentors showed great dedication and offered to be reached out for any queries.
I have definitely acquired a niche skill that can revolutionize the tech industry and our lives. The program has helped me quickly start my learning journey, and I wish to apply these skills at my work and bring significant impact to our business. My leadership team also acknowledges this wholeheartedly, and thus the program has also helped me with my role progressions. I would advise the candidates who are aspiring to get into this industry to be really passionate about technology. This can be a huge motivating factor. The concepts are tough and need awareness of programming, statistics, and mathematics. Being dedicated and committed to the program will help to stay focused as it can be enduring. Also, encourage my fellow learners who are starting out to take the projects and lab sessions very seriously. These sessions alone are equivalent to a few years of industry experience.
