My name is Hithysini K N, and I was born and brought up in Bangalore. I completed my education here till graduation (BE- Biotechnology) and joined work as a clinical research coordinator at M S Ramaiah Medical College and Hospital. I have worked various jobs and finally ended up in IISc as a project assistant.
Being a woman, I haven’t faced any specific challenge (I am thankful for that). Wherever I have worked, people have put the same faith in me with the work, as they would in an opposite gender, and have respected me at par with them.
I am currently experiencing a career break as I got married in Feb 2021, right after which I moved to Pune, where I stay with my husband and his parents. After moving to Pune in Feb 2021, I did apply for various job recommendations from various portals, but I did not get a call back since I did not meet their expectations. In March 2021, we found out that we will be parents by Nov 2021, and that news made it a little difficult for me to choose to work (because I will have to go on maternity leave soon, and I don’t know if the company will accept such a candidate). I made the decision to study Data Science when I was working in Bangalore so that I could give myself a wide spectrum of options to work in.
To enable me to have a job and be independent based on my qualifications irrespective of which city I am in. I am still in the process of completing PGP-DSBA. It is a competitive world out there. Anyone can be replaced, and there is always a better candidate. It does worry me a little on my career front with so many personal changes. But however, I hope for the best and believe that this program will help me keep my career front alive.
There was huge advertising of job openings and how data is the new fuel. After following up with the ads and doing my own research on the scope of finding jobs in this field, I decided to join this course. I believe that this particular field will help me boost my career front, stay independent in any city I am in.
I don’t believe anything can keep a woman out of any field other than the cage she forms in her mind for herself, believing she can’t, or she won’t be let to do or pursue what she wants. I don’t think anybody has or is stopping women from working in the Data Science field. In fact, it is a perfect field for women if their well-wishers or close ones are worried about their safety.
This year is about my transit, and I haven’t started a full-fledged career in Data Science yet to have an opinion on it or have the qualification to advise on it. Nonetheless, I do encourage women that no knowledge is a waste as everything you learn here will definitely help you boost your position in your current job. It can be used very well to diversify your income generation routes, and you can understand investment, stocks better and make better decisions.
I chose Great Learning based purely on recommendations, accreditations, and faculty background. The great learning team is doing an amazing job amidst so many challenges like Pandemic, their own staff and their family being affected by Covid-19, not being able to conduct classroom sessions due to the pandemic, and also its students and their family being affected with covid. They have been flexible to my requirements, be it shifting from Bangalore to Pune or marriage or my pregnancy, the learning has not stopped, and the efficiency remains the same.
Great Learning had various learning options like online sessions, classroom sessions, and mixed sessions. I just had to choose a convenient mode I had to learn from. Also, they have branches or programmes running in various cities, which helps you in a smooth transition in case you relocate. Their various program options are the main aspect that helps me balance both my career front and personal front.
I haven’t started my career in Data Science yet, but the tools and metrics that I have learned from the course have helped me generate income from home by understanding investment and stocks. I am able to analyze the charts and make a better decision on investing my savings with various optimization techniques and chart pattern analysis. Also, I am waiting for a head starts for my career in Data Science soon.
