With several advancements in technology taking place, it is important to upskill and stay ahead of the competition. Several times, working without upskilling can feel redundant as well. Learn about Archis’ journey with Great Learning’s PGP Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Course in his own words.
I am an Electronics and Communication Engineer and had completed my course in 2019 and was waiting to join an IT company before joining Great Learning. Great Learning completely transformed my career by converting me into a full-fledged Data Scientist in an MNC now. I work as a Data Scientist and as a Data Visualization associate, and I feel proud of joining GL in 2020.
Before joining Great Learning, I tried other IT companies for a job, and I was fed up most of the time. I faced numerous challenges in my job hunt. That is when I found Great Learning.
My mother suggested the idea of AIML, and I, too, went through a couple of emerging technologies as in most company interviews I faced the same thing was blooming at that time in mid 2019s.
For the capstone project idea, we indeed wanted to do something with AIML in the healthcare industry. That is where we thought we could apply our idea to brain tumor classification, which eventually brings in an automated AI solution that detects the type of tumor with utmost accuracy. This was such an interesting phase of the entire Great Learning journey as we had our mentor for the project, who has been an imminent person from the healthcare industry.
Model training and lack of computing resources are what we were having trouble with, and we resolved it by using the advanced computing resources of Google under the Pro scheme. We also had issues with optimizers as well, and we tried to fix it by trying different optimizers in the market technically with TensorFlow Keras. I think that it was such mind-boggling as to which one to use in the context.
Our mentor for the capstone was really inspirational as he had so much immense experience with the healthcare domain. Right from planning, organizing, executing things in the right direction, the concept of mentorship is much required. I think Great Learning has fulfilled it with such industry-led instructors as our esteemed mentors. Our mentor was available all the time whenever we had some difficulties in approach, and he was moreover flexible by adapting to everybody’s time preference. It was so cool to work with him.
The impact that I can create is that, with this experience in Great Learning, I am confident enough to show that irrespective of the domain and industry, wherever I go, I can successfully help deliver AI solutions with the help of customized domain expertise and the right planning strategy and requirement needs. Moreover, in my company, we are inducing AI in the BFSI sector and healthcare too. We hope this would add more advantages to my career within my organization.
I have confidence and build up team spirit that I can accomplish any task on the AIML side without any hesitation. I think this is the impact that I can see after taking up this capstone project. Also, the way of drafting every stage of the project is really amazing to do. I have learned a lot of good presentation skills from Great Learning too.
My advice for people joining analytics or AI in Great Learning would be that even I too hesitated at first before joining Great Learning, where I remember Sowndrya giving her talk on her journey with Great Learning. I took her as an inspiration and tried to accomplish my work efficiently with every course module in Great Learning, and I am enjoying my Great Learning benefits. I even suggest going for AIML in Great Learning because AIML has a lot more stuff to be technically strengthened by which we can completely transform our career and lifestyle. My lifestyle has changed. Thank God for showing up Great Learning, else I would have been a monotonous IT guy in some company. Moreover, Great Learning developed a passion in me, and I wish Great Learning to continue its work by inspiring many and bringing up many talents to this AIML field. I love my job, and that’s because of Great Learning.
