I’m a Project manager with 14 years of experience in software service delivery, development, and management in the Retail, Manufacturing domain. I’ve years of experience in JAVA, J2EE background, Retail Point of Sale (POS) system, consulting, Payments Authorization sector while building and managing teams.
During my computer engineering days when I started exploring the basics of Artificial Intelligence, it was always the field of interest due to its nature, approach, and dynamics that changed the problem-solving perspective all the way, but carried out into the software engineering, development, learning technologies and building the domain expertise, exciting the journey every day. Started supporting millions of transactions per day, handling enormous amounts of information, countless integrated systems, retail payment & authorization anomalies, fraud detection, there was always a common aspect coming to mind after learning all of these concepts.

Handling a large amount of information integration with the expertise of legacy technology was the biggest challenge I was facing. Enabling customers with the new cutting-edge technology and giving them a perspective to remediate their problems while I train myself to be equipped with the new approach based on the domain and product knowledge I have built so far.

Continuous Learning is the key, we all know, but the pressure of day-to-day customer delivery, balancing professional and personal life, responsibilities over time yields the biggest challenge on time management. Allocating good quality time for self-improvement gives the ultimate confidence we interact with others, be it colleagues, customers, or family.
I started exploring my wish to learn AI in-depth and came across various articles, journals, books, YouTube videos, blogs, and many more. One thing I realized was the importance of being organized and then learning. That’s the reason why I preferred listening to the professors and learning in person from them and understanding the best practices in the industry.
I compared many similar courses, but I liked Great Learning, especially because of their course structure, interactive platforms to meet the professors, mentors, the learning platform, and obviously their excellent track record.
I always preferred campus learning, but in this covid time, as we learned the new normal techniques, I had to make my way to online classes. Believe me. I never felt I was away from the campus. The assignments after each module complemented the topics that we learned, and the guidance that we got from our mentor kept us busy and focused. I appreciate the Great platform Learning has provided. After completing the weekly learning objective and associated unit tests, we appeared for the mentor sessions, which used to be extremely knowledgeable. It was very exciting whenever the mentor used to cover material beyond the course/video material to help us understand the topics deeply. We obviously cleared our doubts but also got to know how the theories are applied to practical problems and what’s going on in the industry. I really liked the approach. Thanks a lot to the mentors for the facilitation.
Our mentor was an IITan, highly knowledgeable, a great team leader, and friendly to all the students. It’s not about explaining the theories in the book, which I feel is the easy part, but it is about how nicely we related those to the practical examples and industry solutions after attending the sessions. Exemplary case studies were key in the course. The mentor sessions were filled with organized information and very intense for improving student’s learning skills.
If you search on AI and ML topics, there are thousands of artifacts to go through, but success will be driven by walking onto the right path. Great Learning’s mentor did the same to choose the right topics, tie them together, inspired us to explore and innovate while we found a solution to the project after each module and the final capstone project.
Our mentor was amazed to see our approach in the capstone project. He acknowledged that we were one of the pioneer groups to complete end to end of the project well ahead of the deadline, going the extra mile to showcase additional topics. It was only possible through proper interaction and the way we discussed our approach and built a friendly system-driven platform to achieve high.
When I compare myself a year back, I see the difference in my confidence in analyzing problems with a new perspective, offering a new technology implementation approach, finding hidden patterns in the data, bringing a new perspective in product consulting, bringing exploratory analysis to the table for focused business decision recommendation. My peers, colleagues, and senior management are appreciative of my effort. It’s just the beginning, a long path to travel in the new world.
