I have been working in a Data Engineer/Analyst role for an American-based account. I am working on a Data Warehousing Project, where tons of data are loaded on a daily basis. Though I had privileges to observe this data, I was not aware of what would be done with this, which encouraged me to pick up a course in Data Science.
Even before choosing PGP DSBA, I had been thinking about pursuing an MBA in ‘Great Learning.’ The COVID pandemic made me realize things can change fast in the IT industry, and it is important to learn/utilize our skills in our Area of Interest. My brother, who is a Data Analyst (Expert in Visualization) and proud alumni of Great Lakes, insisted that I pursue a data science course, and he is happy that I chose ‘Great Learning’ for the same.
I have to say that this was a very well-structured program which will give you a good idea of what things look like in the industry. You can learn to do a lot with data available, which can be applied in day-to-day business activities. I went through various other individual programs tried to learn things on my own, but this course gave me a structured curriculum that guided me to excel in this course content. Weekly Mentor sessions have been helpful in guiding me throughout the course. Mentors are highly professional, calm, and take time to listen to our doubts and provide fitting solutions and queries. Our Mentor handled the sessions very well and made us all comfortable and confident. Also, the Mentor and Program Managers are highly active and cleared our doubts in WhatsApp with a quick turnaround time.
The placement coordination of the program is highly helpful in applying for jobs. The co-ordinators also streamlined the process and provided training to be prepared for the interview. The journey was a fun ride because of interaction with my group mates, regular quiz, and deadlines which kept us engaged. Many fun activities like hackathons, QuizWiz kept us intuitive and engaged all the time.
I would like to say that you must work hard, spend dedicated hours in learning and practicing the course content, and sacrifice some free time. But it will be all worth it. If you are interested in getting into the world of Data Science, Go for it.
