I have worked as an online instructor for Javascript and the Procurement Analyst at Molex. Currently working as an Associate Data Engineer at Aventra Group. I was doing my UG in BCA, immediately after which I was admitted to the PGP-AIML Online course at Great Learning. I disliked working as a developer and wanted to pursue a career in data science, and I landed up in the right place with Great Learning.
I chose GL because I wanted a break and upskill myself. The course being online was a cherry on the cake because that’s what I was exactly looking for, as I did not want to go to an offline college. It cut down my travel time, and I could spend more time on myself, upskilling and focusing on my passion as well. The course looked promising and met my expectations.
The mentor sessions were quite helpful as they used to teach with case studies which gave us a better understanding of the topics, and doubts were clarified in real-time. The case studies were all challenging ones, so it was worth giving them a try to solve as I believe that is how one learns. The quality of the mentor sessions was great. The case studies gave us a better understanding of the topics, and doubts were clarified in real-time. My mentor was good and supportive. Though most of the major topics had to be explored on our own and doubts were also clarified, mentor-student interaction was good.
Through these newly learned skill sets, I got a good grip on various topics pertaining to machine learning which has helped me advance my career.
People starting with the course should take it slow and practice a lot, as just watching videos will not help; participate in Kaggle to get a good grip on practical experience, attend all the mentor sessions, and clarify all your doubts with your mentor. Take up the projects assigned bi-weekly seriously as it gives good clarity about the topics and the industry projects. Lastly, the capstone project is extremely important.
