Read further to learn more about his journey with Great Learning’s PGP Data Science and Business Analytics Course in his own words.
With the skillful experience of more than 9 years and supported marketing, business operations, business units, client handling, and having worked with different companies in the manufacturing and construction domain. All of a sudden I continuously came across some quotes in several newsletter articles stating “Hiding within those mounds of data is the knowledge that could change the life of a patient, or change the world.”, “Big data is at the foundation of all the megatrends that are happening today, from social to mobile to cloud to gaming.”, “The best way to learn data science is to do data science.” So it stimulated my conviction to explore more on Data Science concepts and discover how data is serving with different recommendations for demanding and difficult tasks in different industries.
The answer to my stimulation was to pursue a Data science course along with Business Intelligence which was aligned to my occupational experience. Where to pursue the course effectively in the world of the internet carrying abundant options was my solicitude, subsequent to a lot of research and consulting, PGP-DSBA by Great Learning emerged as a great platform. The content, structure, and duration of the Great Learning course convinced me to carry through my stimulation and upgrade myself in the present-day automation era. Also increased my curiosity for the effect on my adjacent work cases and their implementation.

While there are many who would have talked about the course, I want to share an important milestone in this program that really helped me with my career transition, especially when I am from a non-IT background and having null experience in coding. The career counseling session was truly an eye-opener for me. The sessions very subtly, but strongly delivered the message around companies that won’t just hire you because you finished this program. It’s very important to exercise more on fundamentals rather than learning advanced concepts promptly because without basics we cannot apply the advanced concepts in Data science for making business decisions. Having a Non-IT background experience there is an enormous chance for companies considering your profile as a fresher for their job profiles, great learning plays a major role in this part by providing vast learning material along with uninterrupted practice sessions like assignments, quiz, hackathons, etc. They design an elegant e-portfolio containing our achievements which helps us to showcase our real-time experience within data science, so this keeps out the companies considering our profile as fresher. We were offered an able team of Professors bringing not just theory but more experience to the classroom on how to solve complex problems through data and technology. Thanks to academicians like Mr. Gurumoorthy, Mr. Dipayan Sarkar, Mrs. Karuna Kumari, and other faculty in enlightening our skills with their expertise.
In parallel, the CAPSTONE project is another imperative part of the learning which paved the way for people from different domains coming together, to apply the learnings and solve a real-time problem. The diligent follow-up and coaching from Mr Pranov Mishra, a great team to work with, resulted in immense learning to carry for a long time.
I should mention, the career guidance is a pinnacle feature provided by Great learning. Great Learning doesn’t adequately shove off the graduates after completing their certain courses, but great learning provides a mentorship program on resume building and provides a wonderful platform entitled GL excelerate where the graduate will be notified of several job orifice recommendations. Great learning conduct job fares comprising most prominent companies, these great facilities helped me in magnifying my confidence level to obtain a prominent job in a leading company
Itinerant midway of the DSBA course in August 2021, I have transitioned into the Business Analytics team at HCL as Associate Manager.
To those looking out to join these programs, my suggestion would be:
Do extensive research on how data science is aligned to your occupational experience and what contemporary evolution you can create having skilled learning on the concepts you have learned. Be clear on continuous learning and there is no retreat once you enter data science. You can come from any kind of expertise or domain but you should presume you are a scientist, try to heal the complicated and challenging process at least in your expertise. “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it”.
